Most sliding doors have a mechanism called an adjusting screw located at the bottom of the door ends.

If the door becomes even harder to open turn the screw in the opposite direction. In this video i attempt to open a patio door that has got stuck locked. If the sliding door on your van is hard to open and close or if it feels like the door of your van is stuck when you open and close it you can fix the stuck door by oiling the rollers. Give the screw a clockwise turn and test to see whether the door slides easier.

The mechanics of the lock have broken leaving the top section of the door completely. Turning this screw raises or lowers the roller. You can buy a whole new door lock latch assembly pretty cheap and they re easy to replace. Remove the cover or faceplate.

Accident free since yesterday. Soak your door lock in kerosene for 24 hours if it isn t attached to a door and has been rusted shut. Check the alignment of the deadbolt against the strike on the jamb if the lock is difficult to turn when the door is closed or the door doesn t lock at all. Well you could always drill the lock out if you don t want to get a locksmith in.
